Did you ever find yourself in a situation where you were lacking something but didn’t realize it was lacking until had it? That feeling that just kind of said “how did I get along all that time without it”? Well, that is the case with our new procedure manuals that were produced by Gail Nikol and Unique Business Solutions.
First of all, let me make it clear that I am not a person who generally enjoys working with consultants (I spend my time trying to figure out their ulterior motive). Gail is far from your ordinary consultant. Gail Nikol was hired on and immediately became part of our company. Everyone at Wolf-Gordon who has had the opportunity to work with Gail has been amazed both at her wonderful manner and extraordinary competence. Comments about “how amazing” Gail is and “how incredible it is that she gets what I do after sitting with me for just an hour” are frequently heard. Her skills in dealing with my staff (let’s fact it, people could potentially feel threatened having their jobs clearly procedurized) are unparalleled. She has become both a mentor and friend to everyone that she has worked with. That being said, the real test is the end product.
We began working with Gail Nikol on a small procedure manual. Although doing procedure manuals was part of our company goals (we had tried on our own, failed, and then just forgot about them) we were not positive that we wanted to devote our time end effort to coming up with manuals company wide. One look at the finished manual convinced us. We could not afford NOT to proceed. Gail presented Wolf-Gordon with a tool to cut our training time and effort in half. The detail that was provided, complete with screen shots and quick tips, was far beyond our greatest expectations and far beyond what we, as a group of managers, couple hope to accomplish on our own. There was no longer any doubt that we would be implementing these manuals companywide and Gail has been here ever since.
I’m sure that anyone that is reading this letter is aware that I was asked to write a reference for Gail Nikol and UBS however the sentiment that is expressed is all that of Steve Goldfeder and Wolf-Gordon. We look forward to continuing our work with Unique Business Solutions and we are sure that given the opportunity she will leave your company feeling as positive and well protected as ours now does.
